Interior Design On A Budget

Most of us today work hard for what we have and even
though it may not be the best decor, it is still ours.
What many don’t realize is that there are steps you
can take to redesign your interior on almost any
budget.

With a little hard work and a little know-how, you can
take what you have, add a little to it and make it
look like an interior designer came in and did a small
makeover.

You should always start by re-using existing items in
your home. This is where you will save a lot of money.

In fact, you wont spend any money at all. If you take
inventory of what you have and look at things in a
different light, you will see an all-new outlook on
your items.

Sometimes, things in our home become stagnant and we
are used to seeing them day in and day out.

Take those items and consider using them in a
different way. Try moving things around, give them a
good cleaning and find them a new home.

Paint can be your best friend when you are trying to
do interior design on a budget. Paint can totally
change the look of a room, and for only a few dollars
per room.

It just takes a little elbow grease and a little work
to make your old dingy room look new again. And white
is not the only color you can paint your walls.

Experiment with color. New paint cannot only change
the look of your room, but it can change the look of
the furniture you put in it, and the decor you add.

Home Improvement: Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans come in a wide variety of styles and colors to match any homeowners interior design wishes. They come with and without lighting. Three to five blades. In colors of black, white, brown, made of wood, covered with animal print fabric or styled with carved leaves.

Ceiling fans have come a long way since the industrial revolution where they were dreamed up by sweating factory workers. These workers attached wooden or metal blades to the overhead whirling shafts that were used to drive the machinery they worked on.

Ceiling fans are a great way to keep cool in the summer on those nights when you don’t have to run the air conditioner. Ceiling fans are much less noisy and obtrusive than box fans that sit on your floor or in your windows. And, you know that heat rises, right? Well, in the winter months running your fan on low and in reverse speed will bring down the heat that accumulates up in at the ceiling, helping you to feel warmer.

Before you purchase a ceiling fan you’ll need to consider the blade sweep. You don’t want to overwhelm a smaller room with a ceiling fan that’s too big, but, you also want to make sure that the ceiling fan will be able to displace enough air to cool you off in a larger room. Another consideration before purchasing a ceiling fan is the length it will drop from the ceiling. A home with an 8 foot ceiling would probably use a three inch down rod for a ceiling fan, and a room with a fifteen foot high ceiling would need at least a one foot down rod, up to a five foot down rod. It is suggested that you have at least seven feet of clearance from the floor to avoid accidents.

Installing a ceiling fan yourself is a fairly easy job for most do-it- yourselfer’s. There are many online sites available to help you if you have any problems or questions.

Bathroom Interior Design

Any advice or guide on the interior design of a bathroom should be based around one simple concept: keep it simple. Rooms inside of a home should have functional aspects, and if one room is designed for very specific functions, it is the bathroom. There have always been many jokes about the “throne” of a home, but the honest fact is that creating a visibly appealing and comfortable bathroom will inspire positive feelings to its users.

Hardware choices should be the primary concern when designing a bathroom. Faucets and spigots, as well as tubs and toilets, produced in a variety of shapes and materials can centerpiece a design. Open showers are currently popular with the younger upwardly- mobile crowd, and claw-foot bathtubs are almost always considered to be classic and attractive. Evaluate privacy issues first; don’t put the toilet and tub too close together.

Is it a possibility to center your bathroom around a favorite theme? The answer is most certainly “yes.” Keeping in mind that “less is more” while choosing a decoration pattern that will coordinate with the rest of the home will open many design possibilities. Finding a color or pattern inspiration from simple or small artwork may be the first step toward creating a bathroom masterpiece.

When designing a bathroom’s tiling, take the time to shop around through different hardware, decoration and craft stores. The more expensive of the different types of tiles should have durability, aesthetic value, and a non-porous surface. It should be easily cleaned and sanitized, and it needs to install easily without any expensive or caustic glues or cements. Get creative also; all tile in bathrooms need not be made of porcelain.

After the design and production of a space-conscious and attractive bathroom have been completed, focus on decoration accessories to bring out personality and individualism. The bathroom is the most sacred room of any interior, and placing prized possessions on the walls or shelves is an interesting way to bless this special room. Use courageous ideas and do not be afraid to take chances, but above all: keep it simple.
